  • Danzas ceremoniales de Mexico

    Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by learning about the indigenous, ancient ceremonial dances of Mexico. This entertaining and educational performance by Nahui Ollin will focus on the Aztec “Dance of the Concheros.”

    The program allows students to experience the living traditions of Mesoamerica through dances dating back to the Aztecs of central Mexico. Vibrant and active, the dancers’ movements represent and honor the elements in nature, totem animals, deities and sacred actions. Both ritualistic and spiritual, the program is highlighted with authentic costumes and instruments.

In advance of the weekend's festival, students will participate in a variety of activities including demonstrations of sheep herding, threshing and traditional farm chores. They'll also visit a working sawmill, examine tractors and engines, and take a wagon ride!
