Web of Life
To learn the unity of natural life, students work in teams to build food webs with pelts, skulls and artifacts. Explorations show what living things need to survive. The living web activity demonstrates how even the smallest influences are felt throughout the web.
This program is primarily offered at Ryerson Woods and Greenbelt. It is also offered at the following locations on the dates specified:

Grant Woods, Lake Villa
Grant Woods Forest Preserve features wide-open prairies, quiet woodlands and marshes teeming with wildlife. The preserve is located in northwest Lake County near Lake Villa and Fox Lake. The south entrance and parking area are located on Monaville Road between Route 59 and Fairfield Road.
Greenbelt, North Chicago
Greenbelt Forest Preserve is an oasis of green in Lake County's most urban area. The site features oak groves, wetlands and prairie. The preserve is in eastern Lake County near Waukegan and North Chicago. The main entrance to the Preserve is located on the west side of Green Bay Road, south of Belvidere Road (Route 120), directly across from the entrance to the Greenbelt Cultural Center.
Lakewood, Wauconda
Lakewood is Lake County's largest forest preserve. The site features a variety of habitats, including oak woods, wetlands and fields. Lakewood Forest Preserve is located near Wauconda in southwestern Lake County. The main entrance is located on Route 176, just west of Fairfield Road.
Ryerson Woods, Riverwoods
Ryerson Woods Forest Preserve is one of the best examples of a northern flatwoods forest, a rare northern Illinois landscape. Comprising more than 500 acres, the site supports some of Illinois' most pristine woodlands and several state threatened and endangered species. Ryerson is home to the Welcome Center, a green building that houses the Forest Preserve Environmental Education division, and serves as a classroom for numerous education programs.
Ryerson Conservation Area is located in southeast Lake County near Deerfield. The entrance and parking area are located on Riverwoods Road between Half Day Road (Route 22) and Deerfield Road, just west of the Interstate 94 Tollway.
Van Patten Woods, Wadsworth
Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve features oak forest, 86-acre Sterling Lake and the Des Plaines River. Van Patten Woods is located in northeast Lake County near Wadsworth. The entrance and parking area are located on Route 173, east of Route 41 and west of Green Bay Road.
